You know those great deals that fall in your lap when you're not expecting it, but you just can't resist? Well, the purchase of this camper was just that...a bargain! Did we really need a camper? No. Did we really want a camper? Sorta. But boy do we have one now!
Last summer we went camping...tent camping. Wow...I did not grow up in a family that went camping. Period. My mother believed that if we couldn't stay in a nice, clean hotel, then we shouldn't go. But my friends were going and invited me and the family to join them for a fun camping, ATV riding, weekend. The adventure included setting up tents, sleeping on air mattresses, getting muddy on ATV's, walking a long distance to go to a "real" bathroom (not a port-o-potty...I refuse), riding an even longer distance to take a shower (in a nasty shack), swimming in a lake that you sunk up to your hips in mud, and loud ATV's that ran all night long. Never mind the air mattress that leaked, the sweltering heat of the tent, the rain, the achy back in the mornings, loud drunk strangers, lots of bugs, and cranky fellow campers. Not to say that it was all bad...we had fun moments and I was quite proud of myself for sticking it out. But me and Pat agreed that the next camping trip needed to be in a camper not a tent.
I had been keeping an eye out for a small camper since then but not looking too seriously. I am a member of some of the Facebook yard sale groups and someone posted that they were looking for a camper. An old friend of mine responded that he knew of a 24' camper for sale for really cheap. So, I sent him a private message to inquire about this "cheap" camper. It turned out that the RV was less than a mile from my house and the lady just wanted to get it out of her yard. It was in great shape for it's age but needed new tires, minor parts here and there, and some redecorating. I told her that day that I would take it. Just needed to figure out how to get it home. A week later we hooked it up (after a lot of effort) to the Trailblazer and crept home with it. Once home and I could breathe again, it was obvious that this RV was much bigger than we thought. And after looking through all the paperwork, we discovered that our 24' camper was actually a 32 footer. I have never been good at judging size or distance...oh well.

I can't believe we bought a camper!
Every time I look out beside my house and see the camper sitting there it shocks me. What were we thinking? I have been a mess of emotions since we brought it home. From anxiety to excitement. So, to vent my frustrations and share my happiness, I have started this blog. I plan to share pictures, stories of trips, and most of all pictures of the renovation. So here we go!
